It all makes sense seeing as other worn in are more revealing and people spend hours at a wearing  tank tops and swimsuits.

According to reports from the American cancer society, over 3,000,000 people in the United States develop skin cancer each year. Two-thirds of adults don't use sunscreen on regular basis and this can increase the rises the risk of developing melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer. The number of adults with cases of melanoma in American has tripled since 1975, said the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

A lot of things can be done to protect your skin. But here are 10 tips from the Skin Cancer Foundation to keep in mind this summer:

  1. Always use sun screen everyday  even if it is cloudy Use sunscreen.
  2. Apply not less than an ounce of sunscreen 15-30 minutes before going outside in the sun.
  3. If you can get one use a lipstick or lip gloss that has sunscreen with its sun protection factor (SPF) above 30. You will not believe the wonders it can do for you when it comes to helping with sun damage.
  4. The truth is Even if you don't get burned by the sun  when using a sunscreen brand that is only 30 SPF, and this does but this does not mean your skin isn't getting damaged. The higher the SPF on your sunscreen the better.
  5. Always be thorough when Applying the sunscreen. Massage it around your shoulders, the base of your neck, top of your feet, back of the thighs and the upper back. Most people don’t apply sunscreen to these areas and that’s where its need the most!
  6. Water reflects the UV rays from the sun so always keep that in mind when going into the pools or the ocean. So a little less swimming is the advice here.
  7. Always carry a hat and sunglasses with you when going out these will provide shelter for face, eyes and ears from the sun.
  8. Try to get sunscreen brands that are water resistant. You don’t want to accidentally wipe it off and will give better protection from the UV rays that damage the skin
  9. To protect your shoulders from the sun, try to wear long sleeves as much as you can
  10. And lastly remember to reapply. Do this all over your body after every two hours.
